Fun, Interactive Executive Function Classes for Toddlers and Babies in Rolesville, NC

Building on the success of our pilot programs with the Wake Forest Community Library, we are launching two foundational classes designed for children aged 0-3 years and their caregivers with Rolesville Parks and Recreation.

These sessions are are hands-on, research-informed classes designed to grow your child’s brain and equip you with simple strategies to help your child build a foundation for lifelong success.

Meet the Expert: Brittany Miller, M.Ed.

ree

After spending over 12 years as a Research Scholar at NC State University, specializing in self-regulation and executive function skills, I am dedicated to translating complex brain science into compassionate, real-world tools for parents. As a mom myself, I understand that the greatest challenge often lies in moving from "What should I do?" to "How do I do this right now?"

Our goal is to shift the narrative: A meltdown is not bad behavior; it’s a sign of an underdeveloped skill that we can nurture together.

Why Self-Regulation is the Superpower

Every time your child has a big emotion whether it’s frustration over a fallen block tower or running away because they don't want to leave the playground, they are challenged to use their executive function (EF) skills.

EF skills include: impulse control, flexible thinking, and emotional regulation. These skills don't magically appear; they are built through guided practice and the consistent support of a calm adult.

A recent study from Stanford University indicated Self-Regulation as the core foundational skill to resilience, academic performance, and life success. The best way to set up your child for the future, is the build these skills now.

Calm Mom, Calm Baby (Ages 0-12 Months)

Tuesdays 9am | Rolesville Community Center

Our baby’s world is regulated by sound, touch, and rhythm. We teach mothers about the newly formed connection of you and your baby's nervous system and simple strategies to bring their baby calm. While engaging in simple engagement activities, mothers will learn about early brain development that sets the foundation for self-regulation as their baby grows. A private nursing corner with a nursing pillow will be available to all mothers.

What You Will Learn with your Baby:

  • How your nervous systems are linked and what this means for you and your baby.

  • Co-regulation methods to calm your baby's nervous system and teach their young minds safety.

  • Techniques for sensory exploration that promote focused attention instead of overstimulation.

  • Guided practice in the "serve and return" technique to build trust and a secure attachment.

Who This Is For: Mothers seeking confidence in supporting their baby's early brain development, establishing calm routines, and nurturing a strong sense of safety for stronger emotional-regulation skills as they grow.

Little Bodies, Big Feelings (2-3 Year Olds)
